Reboot Hong Kong!

Recovering from the waves of Covid-19 pandemic, Hong Kong is set to reboot and rebound. We need your creativity and innovation to create your version of new Hong Kong in the form of voxel art in the new Web3 Metaverse - The Sandbox.
Organized by the UFO School, which is the official education partner of The Sandbox. We encourage you to create innovative voxel art surrounding the theme of Hong Kong.

Use your creativity to prepare your future in the Metaverse and your artwork will be minted and displayed in our NFTs art gallery inside The Sandbox.

The competition has 3 different sectors:

For Public sector:

The Important Dates

Registration Open:

12:00pm 30 June 2022

Submission Deadline:

12:00pm 31 November 2022

Result Announcement:

25 January 2023

The Rules

Participant's artwork(s) must be designed in the VoxEdit software (Area 1) and Game Maker (Area 2) in The Sandbox.
Participants' artwork(s) must be created around TWO areas (Area 1: Avatar/Object; Area 2: Building).
Participants may compete in all 2 areas and are not limited to submissions for each area.
Participant's artwork(s) must be unique and not a direct copy of any existing artwork(s) (similarities are fine, exact copies are not!)
Participant's Voxel artwork(s) submissions must include VOX file for design and an image JPG 1000x1000px for Area 1: Avatars/Objects.
Participant's Game Maker artwork(s) submissions must include a video link (less than 60 seconds) and an image JPG 1000x1000px for Area 2: Building.
The judging will be done externally by a panel of The Sandbox’s staff and UFO School team.
Not completing the submission steps correctly may result in your artwork(s) being ineligible.
Organizer reserve the right to use the participant's submission IP and conduct second creations of their artworks.

Tips

To make large objects like buildings one can combine parts in the animator to make it larger
To make objects pop and stand out more remember to combine the use of layers, color schemes, depth, and glow effects.
An easy way to design is to use an image as comparison to help develop a Building, Character, or Object.
Designs with custom animations will earn points however the animations need to make sense in terms of use.
